Instagram Accounts That Focus on Visual Repetitions

1. Insta Repeat

This account has gained wide attention very quickly as it features the general cliches of Instagram pictures, mainly from travellers’ feeds. A person jumping over the same rock, similar snow-covered serpentines pictured from above, a girl in the canoe in blue waters, moving towards spectacular mountain landscapes. We all know these images and seeing them together makes us aware of the circular repetitiveness of our online visual world.

2. Analog Repeat

This account focusses on repetitions within analogue photography, which has become a cult on itself. We see the Brooklyn Bridge, classic motels with old school cars, traffic sings in the desert and some effects typical for contemporary analogue snaps.

3. Conversa

Conversa collects patterns within the art world, by showing two resembling works in each post. It can be a similar use of technique, analogies in themes, or just two works of art that are in some way connected.

4. Whos Who

This account also centers at similarities within arts, in a more literal way compared to Conversa. In some posts, Whos Who shows the original work of art and another work made as a comment to it. In the end, the evolution of arts is one of influence and inspiration. It’s interesting to see this process being presented to us on Instagram, to the point where some artworks have even become memes.
