‘Eyewitness in Brussels’ exhibition finalists announced

Photographers were asked to submit work relating to diversity in Brussels, inequality, and the social, cultural and economic relations between different groups. This is also connected to the retrospective exhibition of Magnum’s Leonard Freed, running from October 2018 until March 2019. The selection of Freed’s work on show revolves around minorities, war, revolution, discrimination, poverty but also leisure and art.

As for the jury, the finalists were chosen by – among others – Georges Verscheval (founder of the Photography Museum in Charleroi), Zahava Seewald (curator in the Jewish Museum of Belgium) and Pauline Beugnies (photojournalist and documentary photographer).

The organisation received over 700 submissions, from which 20 photographers were selected. You can find the full list of finalists here.

The Eyewitness exhibition will open on February 21st in the Jewish Museum of Belgium.
